Instructions… For each scene, you will need to create and/or update your CHARACTER LOG, including descriptions, conflicts, emotions, and personality traits specific to EACH individual in that particular scene. also, you will need to respond to the QUICK QUESTIONS for each scene, providing insight into the plot development, setting, characterization. ***If absent, it is your responsibility to complete the missed reading, questions, character log, etc.

Act 1, Scene 1: Quick Questions When and where does the opening scene take place? What is the significance of the white glove that Mr. Frank finds? What is your initial impression of Mr. Frank? What do you learn about Miep's relationship with Mr. Frank? What do the laws prevent Anne (and other minorities) from doing?

What do the reoccurring arguments suggest about the occupants? To whom is Miep engaged? What does Anne hope to do with her life? Why is the news that Mr. Kraler brings bitter-sweet? Provide evidence. Compare/contrast what Mr. Kraler and Dussel have been telling the occupants concerning the war. What can you infer about Dussel's social skills? Provide evidence.

Act 1, Scene 4: Quick Questions What seems to drive Dussel to the "w.c." (water closet/bathroom)? How does Dussel feel about Anne? Provide evidence. Compare/contrast the relationship between Anne and her father vs. Anne and her mother. Provide evidence. At the end of the scene, why does Anne claim to continue treating the others wrongly?

Act 1, Scene 5: Quick Questions When Dussel asks if Hanukkah is "like our St. Nicholas Day," what can you infer about him? Compare/contrast Mr. Van Daan and Dussel's reasoning for getting rid of Mouschi? What does Mrs. Van Daan suggest after hearing the loud crash below in order to avoid the possibility of being captured? Who or what caused the crash below? What does he take? How does this impact the occupants? After the incident, Mr. Frank asks the occupants, "Have we lost all faith? All courage?" and begins to pray. What does this reveal about his character? What effect does the song create for the occupants as the scene closes?

Act 2, Scene 1: Quick Questions What can you infer about the setting when Anne states, "...I can smell the wind and the cold on your clothes"? What is implied when Dussel states, "Mrs. Frank divides things better"? What reaction does this create? Mr. Van Daan says that it is selfish for his wife to keep her fur coat in such desperate times, then casually asks Miep to bring him some cigarettes. What does this say about his character? What concern does Mr. Kraler reveal to Mr. Frank? What is Mr. Frank’s solution? What can we infer about Margot when she states, "Sometimes I wish the end would come... whatever it is"? Who or what does Anne blame for the "horror in the world"? Why does Peter admire Anne? At the end of the scene, what change occurs with Anne and Peter's relationship?

Act 2, Scene 2: Quick Questions What can you infer about Anne when she asks Margot, "...tell me, am I terribly ugly?“ Why does Mrs. Frank ask Anne not to shut the door when visiting Peter? Why does Anne feel "awfully guilty" about Margot? How does Margot respond? What can you infer about Peter when he tells Anne that he probably will just get "some job that doesn't take much brains"? What evidence suggests that Anne and Peter's relationship has progressed?
