2. Anne Frank’s family fled Germany in 1933 when Hitler came to power They took refuge in Amsterdam, Holland In 1940 Hitler captured Holland Anne’s family was forced into hiding (about 10,000 Jews were hidden in Holland through the course of the war) Anne was 13 years old

3. THE “SECRET ANNEXE” The Franks hid in a secret “annexe” which means attachment They did not leave their hiding place for two whole years Anne kept a diary of her experiences
