RF Gun Being fabricated at SLAC E. Jongewaard Being fabricated at SLAC RF design is complete (LCLS Tech note 05-3, PRD, ESD in prep.) Dual feed, racetrack coupler, improved mode separation Mechanical engineering is underway Analysis of cooling requirements, due 7/1/05 Detailed design underway, on schedule Final Design Review 9/16/05 Ready for installation 7/06

RF Gun System Supports ‘Active’ support for the gun solenoid. Solenoid alignment tolerances are tighter than achievable with precision supports and survey techniques, Beam based alignment appears to be necessary, requiring precision motion of the solenoid relative to the gun beamline. What is the BBA procedure? What kind of control is necessary? Safety issue, will repeated accesses be needed? What are the requirements on the PPS system?

L0-A, L0-B and L1 SLAC linac tunnel research yard 6 MeV 135 MeV 4.54 GeV 14.1 GeV rf gun Linac-X L =0.6 m L0-A,B Linac-0 L =6 m Linac-1 L 9 m Linac-2 L 330 m Linac-3 L 550 m T-Cav 21-1b 21-1d X 21-3b 24-6d 25-1a 30-8c undulator T-Cav BC-1 L 6 m BC-2 L 22 m LTU L =275 m SLAC linac tunnel research yard

L0-A and L0-B Input coupler RF design is complete (Z. Li) J. Chan Input coupler RF design is complete (Z. Li) Dual input, single output Mechanical design underway Models as shown, for structures and waveguide Plan in place for brazing of structure Structure modification scheduled June-Sept ‘05 Detailed design work in progress

Linac 1 S-Band Structures J. Chan Have 9½ foot accelerator structures in hand to qualify for use. Have two candidates. Will test along with L0-A and L0-B L1 bead pull scheduled this month L0-A,-B bead pull scheduled in July ’05 Ends, supports need (modest) design effort.

Transverse Accelerating Cavities J. Chan For Injector: Accelerator section removed from Linac, in shop. Needs beamline flanges attached. Physics specification received (PRD, ESD pending) Needs detailed design for the ends, fabrication (a modest effort) Beamline installed starting 1/06 Radiation shielding under investigation (is PPS needed?) For Linac: Accelerator section will be removed from Linac sector 28, and reinstalled in sector 25.

S-Band Waveguide Large purchase of waveguide Cu in bid cycle. C. Rago Large purchase of waveguide Cu in bid cycle. Large flange order in the process of being placed as well. There is material in house to begin waveguide fabrication. System design in Klystron Gallery underway. System design in Inj. vault will be by J. Chan. Some parts (eg couplers) in the shop. Many components (vac. pumpouts, braze preps) designed. Spring 2006 installation Complex installation from Injector Vault to Klystron Gallery planned for October ’05. Radiation shielding approved Waveguide drawings are in the shop Support design underway

X-band System System layout is nearly complete P. McIntosh System layout is nearly complete Klystron mounting and positioning design delayed due to (ongoing) Klystron Dept. safety development. Klystron PDR was due 3/28, FDR 4/6 Klystron 120 Hz testing needs to be scheduled Structures and some waveguide have been acquired Klystron and some other parts partially complete To be installed Summer ‘06

Low Level RF and Controls R. Akre Front end system has had a PDR, FDR 9/05 Phase shifter and Master Amplifier to be tested 10/05 LLRF monitor and control system PDR in June Active area of effort - Fab? Buy? – tests underway SS Subbooster design/fab. is underway T-Cavs’ physics requirements received (PRD pending) X-band LLRF system defered until FY06 Developed in association with the S-band system
