So, you have a new assignment. Where to start? Start with a worksheet to organise your ideas! Organise and keep information together – you’ll have many assignments! WORKSHEET – Ready to research!

Identify three major issues/challenges associated with the aged care system in Australia and evaluate the effectiveness of current support services for home care and residential aged care facilities in meeting the nursing care needs of this sector. Identify three major issues/challenges associated with animal assisted therapy and evaluate the effectiveness of using animals in healthcare. 4. Identify three major issues for nurses associated with the development of  telehealth and evaluate the current state and future trends of this approach to healthcare in Australia. To evaluate….? Definition of evaluate is “to judge or to determine the significance, worth or quality of” assess or appraise Causes and effects Advantages and disadvantages Strengths and weaknesses Importance WORKSHEET – fill in your topic

Finding and EXACT phrase, or string of letters * What is this doing? Truncation of a word to search for ANY alternative finishes. Why wouldn’t you use com* ? WORKSHEET – YOUR alternative words/ truncations/ phrases

Putting it all together … The hard bit … making sense of your topic search! AND find all of your keywords (main topics) “residential aged care” AND “effective support” AND Austra* OR find any of your keywords (alternative words) Animal assisted therapy OR AAT OR psychotherapy methods AND will give you LESS results (everything has to be included). Use AND to make sure you have a relevant search for your topic. OR is MORE (you are happy to find this OR that OR something else). Use OR to make sure you have included synonyms or alternative search terms. There are other things (like NOT) which can be used, but let’s keep it simple and good today  WORKSHEET – Fill in “Putting it all together” section. Different concepts on different lines (e.g. in the OR example on this slide)
