Life Married an older slave named Thomas and had five children She was a slave for John Dumont

AFTER MARRIAGE She stayed on Dumont Farm until New York ended slavery in 1828 She eventually settled in New York City In 1843 she was inspired by a spiritual revelation that changed her life forever She changed her name to Sojourner Truth and walked through Long Island, Connecticut preaching God's truth and plans for salvation
