2 Sojourner Truth Family Life Sojourner Truth was born in 1797 or 1799 in Hurley, New York or Ulster County, New York. She grew up on a farm her brothers and sisters got sold, but then she still was left with one brother. Tragically, she would get beaten by her new masters because she only spoke Dutch, and they spoke English. Sojourner Truth fell in love with a slave across the street. Sadly, the master of Bob beat him. She later had to marry a slave named Thomas masters do this because if slaves make babies the masters get more slaves. She had five children with Thomas named Dina, Elizabeth, Hannah, Peter, and Sophie.

3 Sojourner Truth's Major Accomplishments her career was a slave, then later became a housekeeper in New York City at her famous speech she said, "….....aren't I a woman?" she fought for women's rights to vote and now we are able to vote people today still benefit from her contribution by women being able to have an opinion about who is our president so it is not just men's choice

4 Other Interesting Facts about Sojourner Truth Sojourner Truth had never learned how to read or write because no one had ever taught her. When she was little she wanted equality for all people. When she was older she was wanted because she would fight for woman's rights and some people didn't like this, so she knew that she had to fight for her good name and she won. While Abraham Lincoln was their president of the United States he signed her book.

5 Character Traits For Success honesty for her because she changed her name to Sojourner Truth respect because she fought for women to vote in which she had respect for women then citizenship because she joined church groups because she believed in God and because she wanted to get people on the same page as her about women's right to vote in many ways has she inspired me to become like her because she is always looking on the bright side of life and standing up for what she believed in

6 Sadly, Sojourner Truth died on November 26, 1883 when she was about 105 years old. She died at Battle Creek, Michigan of old age. There may she rest in peace we will always remember her. How We Remember Sojourner Truth
