Introduction ‘’ Even from their infancy we frame them to the sports of love: their instruction, behavior, attire, grace, learning and all their words azimuth only at love, respects only affection. Their nurses and their keepers imprint no other thing in them.’’ –Michel de Montaigne. This quote is important to nursing because it shows how much nurses enjoy their job and how much the really care for their patients. The career I chose was a pediatric nurse. The parts I’m the most interested in are helping children in need to feel better and help them through any types of illness. I became interested in this career because my mom is a registered nurse and from seeing her do her work I became very interested in helping people feel better. I also like all the passion my mom gives. I really wan to experience the feeling of being able to help sick children in need and try my hardest to make them feel better. In order to get a better understanding of my chosen career field as a pediatric nurse, I will be researching nature of work, working conditions, training, qualifications, advancement, job outlook/employment, earnings and related occupations.

Nature of Work Record patients' medical histories and symptoms Give patients medicines and treatments Set up plans for patients’ care or contribute to existing plans Observe patients and record the observations Operate and monitor medical equipment

Working Conditions Being a nurse is physical and it is indoor Most of the work done as a nurse is very hands on and there always moving The work is done indoors Nurses typically work in 24 hour shifts switching times with the other nurses Working conditions- very comfortable in a office but also very strenuous on your back, knees, hips, and feet

Training, Qualification, Advancement Required to have an associates degree or a bachelors degree and be certified Up to 2-4 years to earn a degree High school years education plan- taking all pre med classes and any types of science classes University of Michigan or Central Michigan

Job Outlook/Employment Employment rate is becoming very high. Number of nurses since 2010 has greatly started to increase. A job in nursing is predicted to become very competitive. I plan on looking for a career opening at any pediatricians office in the New Baltimore area or at Beaumont Children's hospital.

Earnings Average annual wage= $64,690 Living in a house on the water Going on many vacations Buying a Range Rover Having nice clothes

Related Occupation Back up career= athletic trainer Apply protective or injury-preventive devices such as tape, bandages, and braces, recognize and evaluate injuries, provide first aid or emergency care Working in secondary schools, colleges, or professional sports fields. Should have a bachelors degree Earnings=$41,600 Working with athletics and helping the ones injured

Summary I’m feeling very excited and eager to follow my dreams and become a pediatric nurse. I’m really looking forward to going into my career and being able to help care for sick children in need. I also am looking forward to be in the nursing and enjoy what I’ve been looking forward to. I’m not really looking forward to the many hours I will have to work and the less amounts of vacation I will get. After researching this career, I am still very confident in going through with working at this career. Finding information about this career has just pushed me more to do the best I can to become a nurse.
