Mobile Phone Policy
The role of the Tutor Your child's tutor is your first point of call for any information you may wish to pass on such as letters, concerns or any necessary information you think we need to know. Each tutor has daily contact with your child and will be monitoring their pastoral and academic progress throughout the school year. Each year group has a Pastoral Mentor – Ms Woulds is working with Y7 Each year group has an Achievement Coordinator. Springwest Academy Uniform 1. Blazer with Springwest badge 2. Tie with dark blue stripes 3. Academy jumper – not compulsory 4. Academy Skirts to the knee (worn with minimum 40 denier tights). In the summer term girls can wear plain black ankle socks instead of tights if they wish) 5. Academy girls trousers 6. Academy school bag 7. Academy PE kit 1 to 7 must be purchased from our own school shop here on site. 6. Black leather shoes. 7. A sensible dark winter coat 8. A water bottle 9. White collared shirts buttoned to the top – purchased from any high street store Students are not allowed the following items: Acrylic or painted nails Hoodies Facial piercings Shaved patterns into hairstyles Unnatural hair colours More than one small set of ear studs
Springwest Academy PE kit Compulsory kit: SA top SA shorts SA socks Optional kit: SA Training/Rugby top SA Jogging bottoms SA fitness leggings All items must be the official school PE kit with the official academy logo. Trainers must be dark in colour.
Appropriate school shoes for girls School shoes should not have: 1. Crepe, thick, rubber or trainer soles 2. Large bows or ornaments 3. Logos or colours other than black

Attendance and punctuality If your child is absent from school for any reason, you must: Parents have to notify the school by 9:00am on first day of absence and every following day(s) by using the following: Attendance text message: 07860 055 215 (preferred) Attendance email: attendance@springwestacademy.org Attendance line: 0208 831 3019 (leave a message only) Please state the student name, form registration and a brief explanation of the reason for absence.
Punctuality: Each day, the school begins at 9 20 am and students should be in school from 9 10 am at the very latest to be ready to attend their first timetabled lesson on time. Registers are taken at the start of the first lesson each day and students will receive a late mark if they are not there. Senior staff are on duty outside of reception every day and will speak with those students who are late to school. Repeated lateness to school is not acceptable.

Settling in Interview – Thursday 19th September 2019 During this evening you will meet with your child’s form tutor to discuss how well they have settled into life here at Springwest Academy This is a very important evening for you all to attend. The next opportunity to come into school and speak to us isn’t until November 27th, which is Year 7 Subject Surgery.
Springwest Academy is a cashless school which means we do not deal with cash with the exception of uniform. The method of payment for any food or drink or school trips is through an app called ‘ParentPay’. ParentPay allows you to pay online from internet banking direct to the school – please make sure you have set up your ParentPay account ready for September. Parent Pay
Induction day Tuesday July 2nd We will meet your child at the main gates from 8 50 a.m. – please wait at the main gates to avoid over crowding in main reception. Students should in their Primary School uniform with a packed lunch. Students will be organised into 8 groups. Students will attend 3 taster lessons, have a tour of the school, compelte a range of group activities as well as meeting staff and learning about a full and active life here at Springwest Academy. All children will be dismissed at 2.30pm apart from those students who have not completed their NVR test. They will be dismissed at 3 15 p.m. Please collect your child outside the school gates. Alternatively, they can make their own way home.
