3 3 Session times 8.55 to 3.30 Lunchtime 11.45 to 1p.m. School meals are free for all infant children and are freshly cooked in our newly equipped kitchen. You may send a packed lunch for your child if you wish and they will eat in the dining room with their friends. If at any time you wish to change your lunchtime choice please give the school office 1 week’s notice.

4 4 Teaching and learning The Early Years Foundation stage covers pupils from ages 3-5 F1 part time nursery F2 full time reception class 7 areas of the curriculum Prime Areas Personal, social and emotional development Physical development Communication and language Specific Areas Literacy Mathematics Understanding the world Expressive arts and design All areas represented in our daily planning both indoors and out as a mix of self-directed and adult-led activity.

5 5 Our Day 9.00 in class bases Register 15 mins phonics whole class teaching 5 mins daily Big Question our topic for the day Group learning times a mix of adult led and short directed activities 15 mins maths whole class teaching 10.30 playtime with KS2 10.45-11.45, 1.00- 2.45 free flow time The children have access to the continuous provision throughout the 3 classes and outside. The adults use this time to work with small groups and individuals, to observe, assess, plan next steps and help the children to extend their learning and understanding. 2.50- 3.30 in class bases review of daily learning, story and talking time.

6 6 Attendance and School Readiness We know that children who attend school regularly and punctually are better equipped for full time school socially, emotionally and academically We do not authorise holidays and only consider Leaves of absence in exceptional circumstances. The Government collects the attendance data of all children. From September 2015. If your child has 10% absence they will meet the Governments criteria for Persistent Absentee whether they are statutory school age or not. Please contact us daily by phone or email if your child is absent for any reason 0115 9153780 admin@seely.nottingham.sch.ukadmin@seely.nottingham.sch.uk If we have not heard from you, you will receive an automatic text from school reminding you to contact us.

7 7 Medical conditions/allergies Please keep us up to date with any changes Asthma inhalers need to be kept in school. Please check they are in date periodically Timekeeping Good habits start early Children often unsettled when they are late or are picked up late Doors open 8.55 am/1.pm and 11.25am and 3.25pm Headlice Please check regularly and let us know if you find any so that we can alert other families Check with your pharmacist for latest recommended treatment Jewellery Only small stud earrings are to be worn

9 9 Sharing information Education is a partnership and we need to work with families to help each child reach their potential. Please share their achievements, skills and interests with us. If you need support come and talk to us. Open Evenings We have 2 parents meetings each year one in October the other in March. A written report is sent home in July.

10 10 Support We are able to offer advice on a range of issues eg Behavioural issues Milestones Special needs Family support We have contacts with Sherwood Children’s Centre and work closely with health visitors and can direct you to other services that may be useful. We pride ourselves in the close partnership we have with our parents. Parent Liaison Worker Lorraine is always happy to see you on Friday mornings after readers time for coffee and a chat.
