4 Why do we have a Transition Programme?
New students know staff and other students Staff get to know students in advance Familiarity with the College site Student strengths and areas for development are already identified Strategies in place for any highlighted concerns

5 What is the Transition Programme?
Primary School Primary Taster visits Specialist visits e.g. School of Tennis or Dance Sporting events Open Evening Visits to new Year 6 students and teachers Welcome Evening Tea Party Transfer day and Parent Evening in July Extra visit for targeted students

6 Year 7 Induction Day: ‘The Big Picture’ Peer Mentor support Targeted Mentoring (Primary teachers refer) Teaching Assistants track student progress for the first two weeks Team Building Activities during registration time Year 7 Activity Trip Early Parent Evening in October Year 7 Parents’ Booklet

7 Friendship Groups Students placed with others from the same primary school (unless we are advised otherwise) If group is large, primary teachers are asked to put them in ‘friendship groupings’ Please speak to us tonight if you have any concerns
