Presentation transcript:

Soundtrack thing Moises Beltre

Chapter 1 – empire state of mind Jay z I chose this song for the opening chapter of the book because the song represents the overall atmosphere of New York, and it gives this grand image to people that maybe haven't been there before. In the novel, Nick explains New York aswell, East and West Egg, and it gives us the overall vibe of the setting as well.

Chapter 2 – lonely - akon Although the song represents a man being lonely because his girl has left him, I chose it because of the sample used. Just the fact that the sample says “lonely, im mr. lonely” I think it deserves to be the song of choice for this chapter. Here, we learn that Nick IS infact a lonely guy, being new and all. He doesn’t know many people, and begins to think curiously of who this Gatsby man really is.

Chapter 3 – party - beyonce This song fits this chapter nicely in the way that its when they finally introduce Gatsby. Its not just the introduction of one of the central characters of the novel, its because of the extravagance of the introduction. It was in a huge party, those that we soon find out that Gatsby loves to throw. This is one of those chapters that is easy to match a son to because Fitzgerald did such a good job with the plot.

Chapter 4 – eye of the tiger - survivor For chapter 4 I chose the song “eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. I didn’t choose this song because the WHOLE song relates to the chapter, which it doesn’t. But there are specific lyrics in the song that realte to the chapter. For example, this is when we “learn” details from Gatsby’s past. Nick doesn’t believe most of the things Gatsby tells him. Next, Jordan tells Nick that Gatsby is in love with Daisy. This is when Nick decides to keepa close eye on everything that happens around him. The song includes the following lyrics: “And the last known survivor Stalks his prey in the night And he's watching us all with the Eye of the tiger”. I chose this because “nick” is “he’s” and hes watching them all with the eye of the tiger.

Chapter 5 – she will be loved – maroon 5 This song is a nice fit to chapter 5 of the novel. This song sends a goo vibe of a girl being loved, and that is the central idea of the chapter. Gatsby and Daisy finally sit in the same room, being left alone by Nick. They seem to be happy, and Gatsby seems to be madly in love with Daisy.

Chapter 6

Chapter 7 – I want you to want me In chapter 7 of the novel

Chapter 8 – p.s im still not over you I chose this song for chapter 8 due to the fact that Gatsby still cant get over Daisy. He loves her. Period. Even after she admits to loving both Tom and Him, and Nick telling him that he’s worth the whole bunch put together, he still can’t get over her.

Chapter 9 -
