Ofsted says..... The majority of schools visited had compelling case study evidence that extended services had made life- changing differences to pupils that had led to better attendance and attitudes

Other Research More motivated pupils Better attendance and behaviour More engaged and better equipped parents Greater willingness to adopt healthier lifestyles Better community access to local services

New Ofsted Framework Focus on Extended Services Weave comments about the effectiveness of extended services into the overall effectiveness, leadership and management and other, relevant parts of the report

Extended Services Core Offer All schools are expected to provide by 2010 Childcare (in primary and special schools) A varied menu of activities including study support, sport and music clubs Parenting support including family learning Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services Community access to facilities including adult and family learning, ICT and sports facilities

Extended Services Core Offer Partnerships - schools and agencies including voluntary and community organisations Signposting Consultation – pupils, parents, staff and the wider community

In Essex... 64% schools are providing the full core offer All to be validated by the end of June 2009 Local Delivery Groups (LDG)
