4 Mission Statement Believe........ At Bedgrove Infant School we believe that everyone can succeed. We believe in developing the whole child and we strive to enrich and nurture their individual talents and needs. We believe that, if you believe in yourself and others, anything is possible. Inspire …….. The children inspire us to strive to achieve our best, so that we can inspire them to reach their full potential. We inspire through our teaching, environments and provision so children become well-rounded individuals. We want to inspire a life-long love of learning in the children, staff and community. Shine …….. Bedgrove children, staff and community members endeavour to support children to shine and be the best they can. Our children will shine with confidence and self-awareness to light the path for a bright and successful future.

7 Admissions September 2014: F1: 4 years between 1.9.14 and 31.8.15 F2: 5 years between 1.9.14 and 31.8.15 Just over 30% in catchment Criteria for main school: Looked After Children/In Care In Area Siblings in both schools Exceptional medical or social needs (SEN) Attends F1 Distance from home F1 – F2 not automatic, must complete an application form Transfer to Bedgrove Junior – high criteria but must apply

8 Foundation 1 (Nursery) Times: 8.30 – 11.30 a.m. 12.30 – 3.30 p.m. 20 minute open door policy: settling in Free flow learning inside and outside Group time-focused activities-e.g. Phonics, Maths, Free flow activities with access to snack table. Adult led learning available during this part of the session-this sometimes includes cooking and music Tidy up in groups Story and singing Home time

9 Foundation 2 (Reception) F2: 50% indoor/outdoor with child initiated play Teacher and teaching assistant per class Phonics Mental/oral mathematics Reading books Learning journeys Cameras home

10 Main school: Y1 & 2 (KS1) Year 1: Continue with child initiated, adult initiated play and teacher led activities – following the Early Years ethos Year 2: Children are taught as a whole class in ability groups in Literacy and Mathematics with mixed ability groups in some lessons during the day F/T Teaching Assistants in each class (often trainees too) Differentiated planning – support, core and challenge Intervention groups for SEN – speech and language, fine motor skills, social skills, G & T etc. depending on needs However the SEN New Code of Practice emphasised Quality First Teaching and inclusive targeted interventions
