North Palos D/117 PreKindergarten Program Creative Curriculum and Gold Assessment

How Your Preschooler Learns Children ages 3 to 5 are learning all the time – and they learn best by being active. We encourage them to explore, problem solve, and create. The more active children are in their work, the more they learn and remember. No one knows your child better than you do. Please communicate to us what is happening to your child at home.

Development and Learning What will your child learn in Preschool? Our curriculum looks at all areas of a child’s development to build a solid foundation in school and life.

Social Emotional Children who are most successful in school can: Control their emotions and behavior Participate cooperatively in a group Make friends

Literacy We plan experiences every day to help your child develop these skills: Speaking Listening Reading Writing

Math Math is more than just knowing numbers and counting. It also involves: Organizing information Comparing amounts Seeing relationships Recognizing patterns 1 2 3 4

Science Young children are natural scientists. They notice and wonder about things, ask questions, and come up with answers. Then they test their ideas, observe what happens, and share their discoveries. Children can be scientists every day as they play.

Social Studies Preschoolers are naturally curious about: Where people live What jobs they do How they use and take care of the environment In our program, children learn about social studies by being in a group. They helps us make the rules for our classroom, make choices, and learn to accept different points of view.
