Mauryan Empire 320s BC and lasted 150 years Candragupta Maurya- conquered northern part of India and is the founder Of the Mauryan Empire. Influenced Alexander the Great. Mercenaries- hired soldiers 6,000,000 soldiers Spies

Asoka 270 BC Candragupta’s grandson Fierce warrior who extended the kingdom Converted to Buddhism and became nonviolent

Asoka Spreads Buddhism Edicts- laws Sent missionaries to spread Buddhism Died in 233BC and empire ended soon after Legacy, built roads, planted shade trees, and rest house for travelers
