Math 7 A 93 – 100 B 85 – 92 C 75 – 84 D 67 – 74 F 00 – 66 Projects Grades Student’s grades will be based on, but not limited to classwork, bell checks, skills checks, quarterly projects, group work, quizzes, tests, etc. All assignments collected will be graded for accuracy. 90% of the quarter grade is based on the above. 10% of the quarter grade will be an interim assessment given at the end of the quarter. Zeros will greatly affect your grade and should be avoided. Projects Grading Scale Students will be assigned projects that will require them to apply their mathematical learning into real world situations. These projects are meant to stretch and expand their learning. Students can expect at least one project per quarter. How can I be successful in math class? Class Rules: #1 Respect others. #2 Start working immediately. #3 Leave food and gum at home. #4 Bring all supplies to class daily. How can I be successful in math class? Keep your folder and book bag neat and organized. Clean them both weekly. LISTEN and PARTICIPATE in class. Ask questions in class and to yourself or others at home. Retell someone what you did in class. Ensure you have a quiet place to complete your homework. Review your notes daily. Use the resources provided in the book, website, and those given in class. Phone/Ask a friend for help. Calculators 7th grade math uses basic functioning calculators, which can be purchased at a general store. Students must supply their own appropriate calculator if they want to use it for daily classroom use, as well as for homework. Purchasing a calculator is not required, but will allow students to focus on the new skills and not the computation. The classroom teacher will provide a TI-108 for use during tests when calculators are allowed. Scientific and graphing calculators are not allowed in 7th grade math.   A basic functioning calculator has an +, -, x, ÷, %, and      buttons and generally costs between $1-$10. It cannot operate on fractions or graph lines and it only has one line in the display. If you have any questions about the calculator, please contact me before purchasing. Students are responsible for his/her own calculator and each one should be clearly labeled to identify the owner. Extra Credit Homework is an essential part of learning in mathematics. “Practice makes perfect!” Attempt all problems. You are not able to learn from your mistakes if you do not give yourself a chance to make one. “Mistakes are proof that you are trying!” Must be done in pencil, showing all work. Skill checks will be conducted throughout the nine weeks to assess student progress on standards. Extra credit is offered very occasionally and to the entire class. I do not offer individual bonus points or extra credit assignments. Students are expected to complete their work to the best of their ability every day. Students who do this generally do not find the need for extra credit.
