What is a Digital Library? It’s a collection of organized, curated resources available beyond the physical space of a library. We have the whole Internet. Why do we need this? Because the resources here are “vetted” and specific to the needs /interests of JMS

Yes, There’s an App for That! The free Destiny Quest app lets you search our online catalog and check your library account from your device. Go to your app store, search for and download the Destiny Quest app. (There is also an app called Follett Destiny, but that is for librarians, not library patrons- don’t get that one.) The first time you log in, you will need to enter our url- www.pickenscountyschoolsga.follettdestiny.com , choose Jasper Middle School, and enter your user name and password (firstinitial last name, e.g. mperdue)

eBooks Publishers are still figuring out how to license eBooks. Subscription-based (we don’t have any of these) Pay per use (Brain Hive) Single-user Multi-user (Unlimited access)- my preference Some books are in the public domain and can be accessed free on the internet. How we access our eBooks (the platform) depends on what supplier they were purchased from. All of our eBooks can be looked up in Destiny and in Mackin, but once you access them, your device or computer will go to that company’s platform. We have eBooks from: Follett (the company that does Destiny) Mackin Rourke Publishing Gale-Cengage Learning (reference books in the GVRL) The eBook market is continuing to evolve. Publishers and hosting companies are still trying to figure out the best way to sell/lease/provide eBooks.
