MUTATIONS. Mutations are heritable changes in genetic information Only mutation in the GAMETES can be passed on from generation to generation There can.
 During replication (in DNA), an error may be made that causes changes in the mRNA and proteins made from that part of the DNA  These errors or changes.

Mutation Notes

Chromosomal Mutations Changes in the genetic material. Gene Mutations Changes in one or a few nucleotides. Chromosomal Mutations Changes in whole chromosomes.

Point Mutations or Substitutions Gene Mutations Changes in one or more nucleotides Point Mutations or Substitutions Changes that occur at a single point in the DNA sequence. Frameshift Mutations Changes that shift the reading of the frame.

Point Mutations Silent Nonsense Missense Changes at a single point in the DNA Sequence Silent Mutation that causes no change in the amino acid sequence. Nonsense A mutation that results in a premature stop codon. Missense Result in a change in the amino acid sequence.
