Science/ Social Studies Next Week in 2nd Grade… September 16-20 Updates and Events: Boosterthon money is due Friday, September 20th. Thank you so much for supporting UP! UP Bike Rodeo is on Friday, October 4th. The Perot Center field trip has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 6th. Math We will conclude Topic 2 “Addition Strategies” by learning how to add 3 numbers, how to make adding 8 simple by adding 10 and then taking away 2, and how to make adding 9 simple by adding 10, then taking away 1. The week will conclude with the Topic 2 math assessment. Language Arts In reading, students will learn about genres and how to distinguish fiction from nonfiction. Students will also learn about the purpose behind a meaningful reading response log. In writing, students will learn to write about a small moment using by discussing watermelon vs. seed topics. We will continue the week 2 spelling words which, their, said, if, and do. Science/ Social Studies We will begin our study of body systems. This is a very high interest, exciting unit! Our focus will be on the circulatory system, the respiratory system, and the digestive system. Please feel free to contact me any time with thoughts, concerns, and feedback!
