1 Welcome to Third Grade Parent Night
Reading/Language Arts

2 Reading Workshop Mini Lesson: Students come to the carpet for a 10 minute lesson each day. Independent Reading: Students each have their own book bag filled with “just right” books for them. During this time they will read independently and will stop and jot down powerful thinking while they are reading. Conferences: I will meet with students individually or in groups to check in with what they are working on as a reader and what is going on in their book. I will see if they are applying the skills we have been learning in our mini lessons and set goals for them to work on as a reader. Strategy Groups: I will meet with groups of students who I feel all need to work on a particular skill. Book Clubs: Students will get to read the same book as other students in their group. They will decide how much they will read each week and will meet weekly to discuss their thinking with their group.
