Classroom News
Thank you to everyone who came to the show Wednesday night. The children were so excited to perform for you. They did a wonderful job and I am very proud of them. We had a student return from vacation. While on vacation he did lots of reading. So we have a new total for books read – 3,121. AMAZING!!!!
I can’t believe next week is the start of May. We will continue to work hard through the month. Information about the field trip will go home soon.

2. What we are Learning! Math O.G. Reading Writing Science
We did a book study of Frog and Toad Are Friends. Together we practiced all our strategies for understanding our books. Next week we will start a new unit. Students filled their book boxes with lots of new books.
Students practiced double digit addition. They are learning how to add numbers vertically and how to line up the places. They continued to work on word problems.
Students were split into two groups. One group reviewed spelling patterns and suffixes. The other group learned about open syllables (example: be, so, chi, de, etc.).
Students continued to write realistic fiction stories.
We watched 5th grade launch the rockets that they made. Kelly from diary in the classroom came in to teach us how to make ice cream. We experimented with different materials to create two different phones to help us determine which materials work best!
