Company Try Out Information 2018-2019

Benefits of Dance Team Dancing provides an opportunity for performance, a sharing experience, either as a participant or as an audience member. Dance provides responsibility training by virtue of being on a team. Dancing, like any other subject, provides the potential for feelings of success and the desire to improve. Dance encourages effort

Growth Opportunites DISCIPLINE Academic Achievement Set priorities Promptness Budget time Physical fitness GOALS: Team and individual Technique and skills Building unity

Being part of the Pin Oak Company involves temporary hard work and dedication, but the rewards and knowledge gained from membership will last a lifetime!

Time Your family schedules will sometimes have to be adjusted to accommodate your daughter’s commitments in Company. This is a TEAM activity, so each girl must be present for rehearsals and performances. Parents will be asked to give their time to chaperoning, to fundraise, and perhaps most importantly, to attend as many performances as possible.

Money Every effort is made to keep expenses reasonable, but there are considerable costs associated with Company. In an effort to ease the individual financial burden, Company participates in fundraising to help defray team expenses. Each girl and her family are encouraged to support these events by giving their time and talents because each family directly benefits.

Emotional Involvement Each girl will have her triumphs and disappointments in Company. The love and support of her family will be important to her. Celebrate her triumphs – she worked hard to earn them. Console her during her disappointments, but remember that learning to deal with frustration and pressures are part of her maturation process. Your positive attitude will influence your daughter’s reactions to her experiences. Your daughter should express concerns and suggestions to the directors. Many problems arise from simple misunderstandings and there are always improvements to be made, so communication is the only way to affect a solution.

Expectations/Requirements A member is expected to fulfill all the financial obligations required throughout the entire year of team membership. A member must have a physical examination signed by a physician each year.

Expectations/Requirements Members are school representatives and should act accordingly, meet all requirements of the H.I.S.D Code of Conduct. Members are required to be at summer camp, all practices, games, pep rallies, competitions, class periods, fund raisers, and additional activities arranged by the director unless ineligible or excused by the director.

Rehearsals Required Summer camp, August 7-9thth at POMS Practice M and W at 7:30 am when in competition season: these will vary based on the season we are in, but always plan on them. Extra rehearsals for competition, Dance officer or social officer

Performance Requirements Football game Team pep rally Chargerfest (in the fall) Fall show Spring Show Competition Season: 2 Saturdays in February Special community performances and invitations

Additional Expectations Participants MUST be enrolled in the dance team period. This class will meet everyday during 1st period. Participation in all ALL fundraising is expected. Company is a costly activity but there are opportunities that will help lower the amount of money each member must pay. Participants must be willing to pay ALL financial obligations in a timely manner. **Please see master invoice** Dance team members must maintain a role-model position in which high morals are to be exhibited at ALL TIMES. If these standards of behavior are not maintained, the member will be dismissed immediately as per the handbook.

Financial Responsibilities New Member Master Invoice- approximately $515 Returning Member Master Invoice- approximately $ 275 There will be additional expenses during the fall and the spring. Approximate cost of these is $30/semester, but will vary.
