2 HMS CHEERLEADERS… Are leaders on the field, in the classroom, and throughout the community Are an ambassador to our school – welcoming, kind, encouraging. Are part of a TEAM and work together to encourage one another as well as make great memories. Grow cheer specific skills as well as leadership skills Promote school wide spirit and positivity

3 What Do We Expect? Enthusiasm and Leadership
School Spirit – showing Pride in HMS at all times Dedication Perseverance Coachable - Eagerness to learn and be coached Desire to be part of a TEAM Technique Endurance and Athleticism Cheer Basics – these basics will be taught at tryout practices

4 Tryout Attire/Expectations
Arrive on time to each clinic, ready to work. Wear athletic shoes that support your feet. Pull hair all the way up in a ponytail. Very little or no makeup. No earrings or jewelry REFER TO PACKET FOR REQUIRED CLOTHING

5 Tryouts: District Guidelines
Article VI: All clinics and tryouts are closed to spectators (parents, siblings, etc. may NOT be in the building) All candidates must fill out and submit the required forms in the Cheer Handbook and give to the appropriate campus personnel before the designated deadline. (March 4) Any candidate not present at a clinic session is responsible for learning any missed material on his/her own time from other candidates rather than from clinic leaders or campus coaches.

6 When do we CHEER? Football Season
Mondays are typically 7th Grade Games Tuesdays are typically 8th Grade Games Girls must be transported by bus to the field All squad members will remain until the squad is dismissed Basketball Season Games are typically Mondays Games are HMS Games are scheduled to begin at 5:15/6:15

7 What School Events do Cheerleaders Participate in?
Pep HMS Helping Wildcat Camp and Orientation our Welcome Pep HMS for incoming 5th graders Any additional events as requested by our administration team

8 Costs ***Camp is Mandatory $125 CAMP COST UNIFORM COSTS
Optional - $50 food fee for football season ***Camp is Mandatory 7th Grade - $ th Grade - $700.25

9 Article IX Section A: Each candidate is responsible for purchasing their practice clothes, shoes, camp, etc. Section B: Summer Camps are required for all squad members and payment is due on or before the designated due date. *Please note that if a member is removed from the team, no refunds will be made and all financial obligations already incurred must be met.*

10 Important Dates March 4-6 – Cheer Practices (4:15 – 5:30)
Paperwork Due: March 4th – Signature Portion of packet as well as principal evaluations due to Coach Williams - Room 510 & Physicals due to Coach T. Tryouts:  March 4-6 – Cheer Practices (4:15 – 5:30) March 7 – Cheer Tryouts Day 1 (4:15 –??) March 8 – Cheer Tryouts Day 2 (4:00 –??) Mandatory Dates: March 19 – Uniform/Camp Outfits Fitting March 25 – Cheer Squad Parent Meeting (for those who make the squad) (4:30-5:15) April 12th – Camp Payment Due April 26th – First Payment Due May 10th – Second Payment Due May 17th – All Remaining Balance Due

11 To Do List Turn in last page of Cheer Tryout Packet to Coach Williams before March 4th Turn in Principal Evaluation Form to Alpha Principal before March 4th Turn in completed Humble ISD Physical Form to Coach T in Athletics Mark payment due dates on calendar and be prepared
