Spanish 2 Con Senora Panchal

How to find me? Homeroom in 204 but can also be found in 102 Email hpanchal@ndcrusaders.org Question-email me or contact via remind Not here after 5th period so contact for extra help or to make up work. I am here to help you(within reason!), all you have to do is ask.

Expectations Come to class on time and be in your seat- before bell rings/ I arrive. Come to class prepared –no going to locker. You will need your textbook, notebook, binder and writing utensil. No eating No phones or electronics allowed YOU SHOULD ONLY BE WORKING ON THE TASK AT HAND- so that means no work for another class and you are not working ahead or catching up on work for this class. You should be doing the task at hand. Ask If you are lost! Respect your classmates. Respect yourself. Do your work. Pay attention. Participate. IT’s amazing what you will learn if you do the work! Do your own work. You don’t understand it, ask for help, don’t copy. You can do this!

Grades The marking period grade will consist of quizzes, tests, writing assignments, homework, class participation and projects. The grades will be weighted as follows: Participation/Preparation and Homework: 20% Vocabulary Quizzes:25% Grammar Quizzes: 25% Tests/ Projects: 30 % Class Participation and Preparation: Participation: Class participation is an important piece in language learning. Participating in class helps enhance a student’s listening, speaking, writing and reading. Students are expected to participate in class instruction and activities as well as partner and group work. Students are expected to use target language as much as possible Preparation: You must bring materials to class and have what is needed to learn that day! Students will receive up to 3 points a day. The points will be earned as follows: Preparation - 1 point Constructive participation/ Good Behavior- 2 points (see below for behavior guidelines)

Grades Continued Typically there will be a vocabulary quiz, grammar quiz and test for most chapters. The vocabulary quiz will often include a small section on the review vocabulary and grammar at the beginning of the chapter At the end of the chapter, homework will be collected. You will turn in the workbook pages along with any other requested assignments on the day of the test.

Academic Honesty Students are expected to do their own work. No copying of homework is allowed. You may check answers if you were absent, but the homework must already be completed. Students are allowed to use online dictionaries to look up individual words, but they are not allowed to use translators to write paragraphs, essays, etc. If a student fails to comply with the above rules regarding academic honesty, they will not receive full credit and there will be disciplinary consequences. I will follow the policy laid out in the code of conduct for students.

Absences Absence When a student is absent, the student is responsible for any missed assessments or assignments. The student may check on the class page for any work missed during their absence. It is the student’s responsibility to speak with the teacher to arrange a make up for any missing tests and to turn in any homework they missed. It is also the student’s responsibility to obtain class notes from the days they missed. This can be done by speaking with a classmate. Students will have three days upon return from their absence to speak with the teacher and arrange a makeup. A zero will be given for any missing work not made up within one week of returning to school. For extended illnesses and special circumstances, special arrangements will be made.

Duolingo This year we will be using a language learning app called duolingo.com. Students can use this app on their phones or via the website https://schools.duolingo.com/ Students will be given a code to use to join the class. Students can work at their own pace on the app but there will be assignments given each week. Some weeks students will have specific lessons to complete and others they will simply have an amount of points to learn . Students will be asked to complete a placement test upon registering for the class. The Duolingo assignments will count towards the homework and participation grade. Students will earn up to 15 points each week. Assignments will be due on Mondays with the following week’s assignment being posted by the Tuesday prior. If you have any connection issues, speak to Mrs. Panchal. Make sure you are logged in to your account, otherwise points will not be credited to your accoutn

Remind We will be using the remind app to stay connected. Please use the following link to join our class group. Parents are invited to connect as well. remind.com/join/panchalpd4
