Pl Pl Learning Map for Year 4 : Autumn 2 2018 Year 4 – UK Geography Please encourage your child to read each day Scratch Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals. Use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs. Hockey: Play competitive games. Attacking and defending skill. Controlling, passing and moving with the ball. Dance: Design and perform dances using a range of movement patterns. Respond to stimuli, creating movement phrases using specific skills. Pl Other Exciting Events: British Habitats Workshop – Woodland Discovery Centre Mouse Bird Snake Wolf Character analysis and descriptions, involving drama (creating and punctuating speech) and art. Instruction writing including application of fronted adverbials. Poetry (Kennings) – children to identify patterns and techniques within poems and to use these to create their own examples. Story planning and writing (third person). Science PE English Computing Living things and their habitats Recognise that living things can be grouped in a variety of ways. Classify and group a variety of living things in their local and wider environment. Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. Year 4 – UK Geography Geography RE Maths UK Geography Name and locate counties and cities of the United Kingdom, geographical regions and their identifying human and physical characteristics. Describe and understand key aspects of: physical geography, including: climate zones. Is peace the most important message of Christmas? Describing what a Christian might learn about Peace from The Bible. Ask important questions about peace and compare ideas with those of other people. Investigate how we find peace within ourselves. Make connections between the Christmas story and religious values. Make links about things that are important to them and other people in the way they think and behave. Developing strategies for finding doubles and halves of numbers. Finding simple fraction and decimal equivalents. Measuring using a variety of different units and converting between these. Rounding 4-digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Written and mental addition and subtraction methods. Developing use of the grid method for multiplication. Written strategies for division. Art & DT Music Christmas Hoops – The Holly and The Ivy Using a range of materials for collaging to create textures. Colour mixing to create different shades. Printing Studying the work of William Morris. Designing wall hanging based on patterns and interests. Making connections between own work and patterns in local environment. Children to play and perform individually and in groups, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression.
