Pl Please encourage your child to read each day Myths, Legends and Fables – reading Greek myths, fables and Robin Hood. Comparing different versions of Robin Hood and writing our own version. Instructions – reading a range of instructions, identifying features of instructional texts. Writing our own set of instructions for the Aztecs to follow Homework Alternating Literacy and Numeracy, plus free choice. Set on a Tuesday and collected on the following Monday. Hockey Dance – Thinking about movement at different levels, putting together a sequence. Programming in Scratch. PE Poetry – Looking at a range of poems and identifying similes, personifications and metaphors. Performing poetry in front of an audience Animals including Humans – how humans develop through life, changes they go through. How animals develop differently, life cycles of different animals. English ICT Science Year 5 Montezuma Mayhem Research in books, on iPads and on the internet. Write articles and design posters about the Aztecs and Mayans. Number operations – use the four operations confidently, and use each to solve multi-step word problems. Understand and identify prime factors and composite numbers. Music PSHE Art History Keyboards Children’s rights and human rights. Key figures, how they have changed. The Aztecs and Mayans – who they were, where and when they lived. How they affected history, how they lived, daily life. RE Cubism Create a multi-media composition from still life Measurement – convert between units of metric measure, e.g. km and m, cm and m, g and kg. Solve problems involving converting between units of time. Maths Geography Communication – how we communicate with each other and with God. How Bible stories show us different ways of communicating with God. Reflection and translation – represent the position of a shape and understand the shape has not changed Taught Summer
