What Colleges Consider Most Transcript Did the student take the most difficult classes offered at their high school? Did they succeed in those classes? Extra-curricular activities Did the student have a leadership role? Was the student minimally involved in many activities, or deeply involved in a few? Test Scores ACT or SAT is acceptable. Some will want SAT II. Are the scores in range? Essay/Personal Statement Display strong writing skills? Tell a story about the student? Address the prompt? Learn something new? Interview Does the student know about the college? Do they “match” what appears on their application? Would they be a good fit at this institution? Interest Some schools consider number of visits, expressed interest, etc. Some do not. Ask.
