What is the purpose? Separation pay is intended to assist members who are involuntarily separated in returning to civilian life
How much do I get? Full separation pay is 10% of the product of the member's years of active military service and 12 times the monthly basic pay to which the member was entitled at the time of discharge or release from active duty. Half separation pay is one-half the amount computed above

Service members who are eligible Retention eligible Involuntarily separated Advancement eligible Minimum Service = 6 years Reserve Obligation = 3 years in the IRR
Service members who are not eligible Members released from AD for denying training Members who are immediately eligible for retired or retainer pay Members who are released as part of the execution of a court-martial sentence, which includes discharge or dismissal. Members separated under OTH conditions Enlisted members separated because of misconduct or unsatisfactory performance
