Evaluating the Programme

Learning outcomes Review the six-week personal fitness training programme, describing strengths and areas for improvement (pass) Explain strengths of the training programme and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for future training and performance (Merit) Justify recommendations for future training and performance (Distinction)

Strengths of the programme… Review the six-week personal fitness training programme, describing strengths and areas for improvement (pass) Explain strengths of the training programme and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for future training and performance (Merit) Justify recommendations for future training and performance (Distinction) Strengths of the programme… Which areas of fitness did you set out to improve? (Pass) Were you looking at the components: Cardiovascular Endurance & Muscular Endurance Or Speed & Power Did you improve these? How? (Pass) Yes/No (you have your fitness test results) Talk about how you score has improved – have you moved from an ‘average’ score to a ‘good’ score How did your programme allow you to achieve your goals? (Pass) Refer to the methods of training you used in your programme: Continuous training, fartlek training, long intervals, circuit training Hollow sprints, acceleration sprints, short intervals, plyometrics What evidence do you have to support you achieving your fitness goals? (Merit) Here you need to expand on the results in your fitness tests You also can talk about how you were able to run further/for more time/complete more repetitions of activities as you completed the programme (YOU MUST USE EVIDENCE FOR THIS QUESTION)

Areas for improvement… Review the six-week personal fitness training programme, describing strengths and areas for improvement (pass) Explain strengths of the training programme and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for future training and performance (Merit) Justify recommendations for future training and performance (Distinction) Areas for improvement… Are there any other areas of fitness you would have liked to improve? (Pass) It must be a component of fitness, e.g muscular strength or flexibility How would you achieve this? (Pass) You need to describe the methods of training that would be used to develop the component/s you have identified above Are there any other aspects of the programme that you could change to make it better? (Pass) Days you trained on? Time of day you trained? Inside/outside? More methods of training? What recommendations would you make (Merit)   This links to the question above – now you need to tell me what you would do to change your programme, e.g. Instead of completing my plyometrics on a Friday when my body was tired from the week I would move it to the beginning of the week Why have you made these recommendations (Distinction) Here you tell me WHY – e.g. I would move my ploymetrics session to a Monday instead of a Friday so that I would have more energy to complete the session. It would also mean that I could complete the session at the desired RPE (18) rather than ending up working below this (16). If I moved the plyometrics to this day then I would end up seeing an even greater improvement in my power

Describe four personal exercise adherence factors and four strategies for training success What sorts of factors caused you problems and had a negative effect on your ability to carry out the exercise programme? What strategies did you have to ensure you completed your programme?
