What is SUICIDE? For those of you that do not know, suicide is when a person kills themselves. Most commonly people commit suicide do to Stress or Depression.

Stress related SUICIDE.. Examples of suicide do to stress: Unemployment Family Conflict Trauma (such as rape) Isolation and/or loneliness Difficulties as a child (abuse, neglect) Loss of independence (ex- loss of limbs)

Depression related SUICIDE.. Some people suffer from an illness called Depression, which commonly leads to suicide. Depression can occur for several reasons: It runs In the family Reason such as family break-up, child abuse, rape Sometimes depression can be caused by a permanent disability or terminal illness Other times there is no obvious reason

Triggers of SUICIDE.. Suicide can be triggered by: The ending of a relationship Being bullied at school Arguments with parents or family members The death of someone else Being abused Confusion or rejection of sexuality Alcohol or drugs

Signs of Suicide Different signs of a suicidal person: Verbal Threats of suicide (such as, “you would be better off without me”. Changes in someone's personality Signs of Depression Loss of interest in plans for the future Daring or a more risk-taking behavior Previous suicide attempts is also a good sign of a suicidal person

Effects of families due to SUICIDE.. Its said that the family and friends of someone who committed suicide can feel a variation of feelings. Some may feel guilt, anger, resentment, maybe even remorse. Others may feel confused and greatly distress over unresolved issues. The loss of someone they care about can also scare people in to not wanting to get into other relationships in fear of it ending in suicide.

SUICIDE statistics… Suicide kills 30,000 people annually Over 500,000 people attempt suicide a year Suicide accounts for over 1% of deaths in America The risk of a person completing suicide after an attempt is 100 times greater than their first failed attempt Substance abuse may be involved in 50% of all suicides.
