Classroom Rules The fifth grade classrooms all have the same rules and guidelines. They are as follows: Positive Attitude Respect and each other and each others things If it’s not yours, don’t touch it Demonstrate readiness Everyone Matters

Discipline Our main goal as your child’s teacher is to provide a safe and undisrupted environment for optimal learning. It is also our intent to build a community of learners. If the class rules are not followed a progressive set of consequences will occur. School-wide Discipline Log Character Cash

Individual Conferences Due to large # of kids, parent conferences are voluntary. Parents will be given time to meet with the teachers on an individual basis. Teachers will email sign ups. We will, however, request conferences for students who are receiving below-average grades and/or having behavioral issues. We will, of course, honor the request of any parent/guardian who wishes to have a conference with the team.

Homework Policy Students are encouraged to attend Homework Club Expect to see homework Some subjects will not assign homework every day. We follow the formula in regards to the time limit: -grade level (5) multiplied by ten minutes equals 50 minutes per night. Please note that 50 minutes is an average, some students may finish in less time and some students may take more time. Long Term Projects Science Fair Social Studies Math Students are encouraged to attend Homework Club

Grading Policy (Homework) Homework is due the next day, unless otherwise noted. Missing work receives no credit. Late work is accepted with a 50% score reduction. Only neat and complete work will be accepted.

Absent Work It is important that students turn work in on time, so they do not fall behind in class. Absent Work: One day per absence plus one Absent Work is full credit

Grading Policy (Tests) Students have the opportunity to re-take tests in order to raise grades. Re-takes will be within one week of receiving returned tests.
