5 Infinite Campus Login STUDENT Username: s + id # (example - s123456) Password: last name of homeroom teacher PARENT Follow directions given in the Parent Portal icon near the top right corner of the Patterson or CUSD home page.

6 Schedule Reading, Writing, Language, Math Every day
Science and Social Studies Taught in units Example: 4 weeks of science and then 4 weeks of social studies Music/Band/Orchestra Meets 4 times every 6 days Physical Education Meets twice every 6 days Techology Class Meets once every 6 days Library Meets once every 6 days

7 Language Arts Textbook: Journeys (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)
Think Central – online textbook and resources Emphasis on fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension strategies with a variety of texts Leveled Readers to help students read and comprehend stories at their instructional level while working on various reading strategies. Spelling – Weekly list of 20 basic words and 5 challenge words. Words given on Monday and test on Friday

8 Accelerated Reader (AR)
Students STAR test every quarter to receive their reading range and reading goal. Goals are based on 30 minutes of independent reading per night. Students are given a calendar that explains what percentage of their goal they should be at on that particular date. Students are acknowledged for reading achievement : reaching or exceeding goal number of words read over 250,000 number of non fiction books read with tests above 80%

12 Science Matter Motion and Forces and Simple Machines
Body Systems – skeletal, muscular Science Fair Natural Hazards Planets Space Exploration

13 Homework Fifth graders in CUSD are expected to do
30 – 50 minutes of homework a day (Monday – Thursday) Homework may consist of: Practice of skills learned in class Unfinished class work Studying for tests Independent reading Practice typing

14 Graded Work Graded work will be sent home on Mondays
Parent signature required by the end of the week 50% - lowest grade in Infinite Campus for work turned in Missing assignments will result in a zero 3 corrections are allowed per quarter to increase grade (excluding tests/quizzes)

15 Accountability Program
Students can earn an extra Fun Friday recess by meeting these expectations: *completing and turning in all work on time *displaying PRIDE behavior *each PRIDE letter represents 5 minutes of recess *letters are lost by not meeting classroom expectations
