Learning Target I will analyze informational text for author's purpose and support. Opening- Get out your homework and trade with your table partner.

Opening Edit and Revise your table partner’s introduction. Write your name at the bottom. Complete the following: Circle the hook and rate it 1-3 (1-needs revision, 2-good but not great, or 3- effective.) Box the Bridge- does it effectively tie the hook to the topic? Explain how. Does it relate the hook to the topic or not? Underline the Thesis- Explain if the thesis is effective. Is it an opinion? Does it explain what the rest of the paper is about? Is it in 3rd person?

Task- Argumentative Reading Number the paragraphs of the article. Read the article. Identify the following: The author’s purpose The author’s viewpoint Reasons to support the viewpoint Counter-Claim and how the author refuted it. Call to Action

Closing BCR- Do you agree or disagree with the author of this article? State your claim and support your claim with evidence from the text.
