2 What is the purpose of argumentative writing?
It can… …change a reader’s point of view. …inform the reader about the writer’s point of view on a concept, problem, or fact. …ask the reader to do something or take some action.

3 What is argumentative writing?
It is writing that makes a claim, proving something to the reader. This claim is also called a thesis statement.

4 Argumentative writing uses information to prove a point.
The information used has to be more than just an opinion. Information is based on research. It also uses explanations to show the reader how the information proves the paper’s claim.

5 Argumentative writing disproves a counter-claim.
A counter-claim is a claim that attempts to prove the opposite of the main point your essay makes. Counter-Claim Endless Summer Clip

6 Introduction Conclusion
Argumentative essays introduce the main topic in the first paragraph, which ends with a thesis statement/claim. They end with a conclusion paragraph, which restates the claim and the information from the essay. This paragraph ends with a reader request sentence. Introduction Conclusion
