How journalists engage with an audience
My chosen social media I chose to promote my work using Twitter and Instagram because during my research I found that a large amount of my audience used these platforms as their main social media. My research also showed me that Facebook was the most popular platform, however I didn’t believe that promoting my FMP work on Facebook would be as successful as for my FMP I will be writing about fashion and taking on the role of a blogger.
Twitter On Twitter there are a variety of ways in which you can engage and interact with an audience: Creating Twitter polls Creating hashtags Tweeting directly at your audience members Posting images that would appeal to your audience Retweeting content that you think would appeal to your audience Sharing short-form content Posting links of your work
Instagram Instagram is more of a visual social media platform which would be good to use for promoting my FMP work in a more visual way. On Instagram there are multiple ways in which you can engage with an audience: Using hashtags e.g. #fashionblogger Linking your online portfolio, blog or website in your Instagram bio Having a simple and memorable username Creating a ‘business’ account Using geotags Instagram ‘themes’
