1.The Parts of a verb Every verb has a stem which tells the meaning of the verb. The verb stem is followed by an infinitive ending, which does not name a subject. habl ar stem com er escrib ir Infinitive endings

2. Conjugating a verb To give a verb a subject you must conjugate it. To conjugate the verb you have to: Drop the ar, er, or ir ending. Add the proper ending to match the subject. Yo o Nosotros/as amos Tú as Vosotros/as áis Él, ella, ud. a Ellos, ellas, uds. an

3. Subject pronouns The ending of the verb usually tells the subject of the verb/action. So, the subject pronoun is normally left out. When speaking in the 3rd person singular or plural (he, she, they, you all), you always need to use the subject pronoun. Ex. (yo) Canto  I sing. Ella canta  She sings.
