Herd Farm Information Evening Year 4 Residential 2019 Monday 11th – Wednesday 13th February 2019

Herd Farm Hidden away just seven miles north of Leeds centre, yet set in 16 acres of tranquil countryside, Herd Farm Residential & Activity Centre offers up to 50 guests (potential to increase to 62 beds in a made up room), if residential, staying in nine bedrooms a range of experiences depending on their choice of stay. Herd Farm is a former working farm with no kept animals, yet sharing the site with an abundance of wildlife. When hiring our converted barn, sole use permits guests to experience original features from the 16th century origins blending in sympathetically with 21st century standards such as underfloor heating,

Monday 11th February Arrive at school at normal time 8.50am Children to arrive dressed for outside activities with a waterproof coat A small rucksack with hat, gloves, scarf and waterproofs Bring a disposable packed lunch, morning snack and refillable water bottle

Monday 11th February 9.30am - Leave school 10.00am - Arrive at Herd Farm – Safety talk and orientation 12.00pm - Lunch 2.00pm – Activity 1 4.00pm – Unpack and bed making 5.30pm – Evening meal 6.30pm – Evening activities – Night walk 9.00pm – Story and bedtime

Rooms Single sex bedrooms 6 bedrooms which sleep between 4 and 10 in bunkbeds Children will be asked to suggest who they’d like to share a room with before we go Everyone will have at least 1 person they’ve chosen in their room The children will find out which room they’re sleeping in when they arrive at Herd Farm. Bathrooms are separate for boys/ girls

Help children pack their own case. Kit List 1 small suitcase/holdall and one small rucksack Warm outdoor clothes and strong shoes / wellies Indoor clothes and shoes Pyjamas/dressing gown Towel (x2) and toiletries Bin bags Herd Farm have a limited supply of waterproofs and wellingtons Please ensure that ever item of clothing is named. Help children pack their own case.

Medical All named medications to be handed to a member of staff on the morning of the visit. Please fill in the form providing instructions. Prescribed medications need the pharmacy guidance included. Please include instructions with other medications, including inhalers, travel sickness tablets Children are not permitted to carry their medication. We can cater to all medical requirements and requests. Please ensure that we know if your child wets the bed or sleep walks.

Cost The cost (per child) for the three day residential including accommodation, all activities, specialist outdoor pursuits staff, and transport will be approximately £80. The final cost will be based on 45 children attending and paying the full amount. A letter will be coming out once we can confirm the exact amount with Herd Farm. Payments can be made by cheque, cash or using the online payment system in instalments if you prefer. Full payments are to be made by 1st February 2019.
