Marisla Foundation Staff Beto Bedolfe Executive Director Peggy Lauer Administrator and Human Services Program Director Cherish Craig Foundation/Administration Associate

OCCF Foundation Staff Carol Ferguson Senior Donor Relations & Programs Officer Austin Muckenthaler Donor & Community Engagement Associate Tiffany McCain Donor Relations & Programs Associate

Why Update the Guidelines? Allows Marisla and our granting partners to understand our impact at a finer scale Gives applicants and grantees an opportunity to discuss potential and actual challenges faced and how they are addressed Provides an opportunity for grantees to talk about success in a more personal and anecdotal way Addresses the differences between a project-focused proposal and a general support proposal Creates consistency across budgets and financial reporting JUST NARRATIVE, STILL OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE FIELDS LIKE NAME OF ORG, TAX ID #, ADDRESS, ETC.

Terminology Proposal = Application Final Report = Grant Report Program Areas = Human Services & Environment

Updated Guideline Roll Out Timing Updated PROPOSAL guidelines will go live for Q4 2017 applications, which report to OCCF by September 30, 2018. If you are/were funded BEFORE Q4 2017, the current REPORTING guidelines are still in place, but the final report will be entered through SurveyMonkey. Center vertically.

Updated Proposal Guidelines Brief summary of project/program, including goals and objectives. If applying for general support, provide a summary of organizational goals and objectives. (100 word limit) Goals are defined as long-term desired impacts or results of an effort. Objectives are defined as mid-term measurable targets to be achieved in reaching your goal. State the problem and need that this project/program will address (100 word limit)

Updated Proposal Guidelines Project Outcomes (500 word limit) Defined as impacts or changes that will be achieved in 1-5 years as a result of your efforts, and with partner organization(s) if relevant. These may include a policy, human behavior, or activity. Project Outputs (150 word limit) Defined as the direct results of short-term (1-2 year) activities undertaken with the grant, such as: Services (e.g. housing/rehabilitation) Events (e.g. workshops/trainings, meetings with key decision-makers) Publications (e.g. reports, websites, etc.)

Updated Proposal Guidelines Indicators of progress toward stated outcomes (100 word limit) Defined as quantitative or qualitative measures toward achieving an outcome (e.g., number of reunited families, number of DV clients reporting progress toward self-sufficiency, numbers of newly employed, etc.) List core project/program partners and describe roles (List a maximum of 5 partners) Description of potential challenges (internal and/or external) that your organization may encounter when implementing this project/program and potential strategies for overcoming them (100 word limit).

Updated Proposal Guidelines--Examples GOALS are long-term desired impacts or results of an effort. Example: The number of chronically hungry homeless women seniors is reduced by 50% of 2016 levels in Orange County. OBJECTIVES are mid-term measurable targets to be achieved in reaching your goal. Example: Mobile Feeding Program established in Costa Mesa focused on homeless O.C. women seniors.

Updated Proposal Guidelines--Examples OUTCOMES are impacts or changes that will be achieved in 1-5 years Example: Due to education efforts, a new state policy allocates $50 million for 10 Mobile Feeding Programs in Orange County in 5 years focused on chronically homeless women seniors. OUTPUTS are the direct results of short-term (1-2 year) activities Example: 3 community organizations working with homeless in Costa Mesa include services for one Mobile Feeding Program for chronically hungry women seniors. INDICATORS OF PROGRESS are quantitative or qualitative measures toward achieving an outcome Example: 1,000 meals provided monthly to chronically homeless women seniors in two Mobile Food Program locations.

Updated Proposal Guidelines Qualifications of key personnel Annual organizational budget detail (use template provided). Project/program budget detail (use template provided).
