Comment allez-vous? Magnifique, très bien, pas mal, ou horrible? Bonsoir tout le monde! Comment allez-vous? Magnifique, très bien, pas mal, ou horrible?

Cette année (this year)… We meet every OTHER day Students need to make sure they know which days they have French so that they are prepared for class Make sure your child has a homework buddy! expect a little bit of homework every week (no more than 10 to 15 minutes!) In general, expect a quiz about once every other week

Topics to be covered in sixth grade: Personal ID (giving your name, numbers, the alphabet, birthdays, age, describing your personality and your physical characteristics, where you’re from, where you were born and your nationality) Activities (what you like and don’t like to do, seasons, weather, and frequency with which you do those activities) Family members (talking about others)

Grading Graded Assessments 80% 3x comprehensive assessments 2x quizzes and small assessments 1x graded homework and short assignments Classroom Preparation and Preparedness 20% checked homework Parent contact after 3rd missing homework Raising hand (answering and asking questions) Classroom Behavior Effort, enthusiasm, and a general good attitude!

Binders Students should have a 3 ring binder for French – they may share with another subject. Students should also have a marble notebook for their “Do Now”☺

Suggestions for Parents to Support Language Learning Inform yourself.  Become knowledgeable about the program. Be supportive at all times.  Your child’s success in the program will be affected by your attitude. Encourage your child to use the second language at home if he/she wants to, but make it fun with little pressure. Be supportive of the program and the teacher. Keep the lines of communication open.  Try to take advantage of situations that increase your child’s exposure to the language and its culture. Encourage your child to read in the second language. Encourage your child to watch television programs and listen to radio programs in the second Language. Show your child how pleased you are with his/her progress. Be proud of your child’s achievement! Emphasize your child’s success. Try to attend cultural events with your child.

Bonne soirée et merci de venir! Have a nice night and thanks for coming!
