The development and mastery of these important literary skills not only is important to achieving success in the Language Arts classroom, but is a critical component of success in other school subjects, building strong relationships with others, and attaining a flourishing career as an adult. In Social Studies, we will focus on the themes of location, place, movement, region, and human-environment interaction to understand the emergence, expansion and decline of civilizations from the beginning of human existence to the Age of Exploration. Students will look at the history and culture of various regions including the development of economic, political and social systems. What do I need to bring to class every day? Also, you may get assignments on Canvas (once we have laptops) that can be done while you’re at home. (Parents- If possible, let me know through Class Dojo when your child will be out so I can hold assignments for him/her.) Thanks!! . Will I have to do homework? Very little for my class. In general, you should read something nightly for about 30 minutes and record your reading either on paper or electronically. (We will start out with paper logs until we get our laptops.) You may read your favorite novels or other library books, newspapers, magazine articles, etc. The reading may be from print sources or online sources. Thank you parents!
