Circulatory System Introduction

Learning Goal To identify major components of the circulatory system along with describing their function.

Think! Think of your body as a city of cells. Each cell is like a house. A house needs fuel, energy, water, and raw materials. A house must also have a sewer system and garbage pickup to get rid of wastes. Your body must take in needed materials and get rid of waste materials just like a house does.

Questions What makes a delivery system efficient? Imagine you are in charge of a package delivery service. What things might make your job harder? What things might make your job easier? What would be the most important parts of a successful delivery company? In your composition book, write at least one paragraph on the left side to explain your ideas, and include any lists, diagrams, or drawings that help your explanation.

Volunteer Raise your hand to share your ideas with the class

Take a Moment to Review the Image…

List at least two questions in your composition book. What Questions Do You Have About the Circulator System Based on the Picture? List at least two questions in your composition book.

Circulatory System The circulatory system is a vast network of organs and vessels that is responsible for the flow of blood, nutrients, hormones, oxygen and other gases to and from cells. Without the circulatory system, the body would not be able to fight disease or maintain a stable internal environment — such as proper temperature and pH — known as homeostasis.

Video We will watch the video together Write down at least three interesting facts about the circulatory system in your composition book as we watch the video We will watch the video twice to get enough facts down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE8tGkP5_tc
