Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Registration Presented by Rebecca Lyons, AP Coordinator Ashlee Pope, AP Co-Coordinator

What is an AP Exam? The Advanced Placement exam is a part of College Board (PSAT/ SAT) Most exams are 2 – 3 hours The first part—usually multiple-choice The second part—usually consists of free-response questions Type of exams Paper Based Exams Computer Based Exams (for certain language exams) Portfolio Exams Based (AP Studio Art) Open to all students in AP courses Scored on a 1 – 5 scale To earn college credit, students must have at least a 3 on the exam (some may required a 4 or 5) If you have questions about how colleges award college credit for AP exams you can visit www.collegeboard.com/ap/creditpolicy/. You will choose one of four or five answer choices for each question and use a pencil to bubble in your choice on your AP answer sheet. Your total exam score on the multiple-choice section is based only on the number of questions answered correctly. You won’t receive or lose points for incorrect answers or unanswered questions. Depending on the exam, your responses could be in the form of an essay, a solution to a problem, or a spoken response. In most cases, you’ll be writing your response in pen in the free-response exam booklet.
