What is Hospitality? “The reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers with liberality and good will”. Oxford English Dictionary

Three Main Objectives of Hospitality Guest feels welcomed Products & services work for the guest Operation continues to provide service and make a profit

Hospitality Industry Group of businesses related to lodging and food-service management hotels, motels& motor inns, restaurants, clubs, caravan parks, bed& breakfast, hostels, fast food outlets, resorts, convention & conference venue, service apartment, entertainment or sports venue, casino complexes, cruise ship

Tourism Industry Group of businesses that encompass travel/transportation Vendors for air, rail, auto, cruise and motor-coach travel, and promote travel and vacation

Services as a product Perishability Changeability Sustainability Intangibility

Perishability services have Zero Inventory! Once sold, they stand sold and cannot be returned.

Ecotourism Ecotourism is now defined as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education" (TIES, 2015).
