Snack Time The class does not take a break for snack time, but students may eat a snack while they are working. Please send a healthy snack with your child, saving the cookies and chips for lunch time. Please, no peanuts due to allergies Snacks that don’t require spoons or forks are best because the kids are working while they are eating. You may send a water bottle everyday, as long as it has a spill proof top.

Transportation Each student’s primary mode of afternoon transportation has been documented. That is how your child will be sent home daily unless a note is sent to school requesting a transportation change for that particular day. Please make all changes before 3pm. All changes must be made in writing. The district does not allow teachers to accept transportation changes by phone or e-mail. This is for your child’s safety.

Attend today… Achieve Tomorrow State law requires that a student in grades PK – 4th be subject to compulsory attendance rules. Which absences are excused? •Medical absences •Late arrivals with a Dr. note •Weather conditions making travel dangerous (will be determined by the district) •Extenuating circumstances approved by the Principal • Religious holy days •Court appearances * All absences require documentation in order to be excused. Too many absences?… A student is in violation of the compulsory attendance law if: •Is absent from school for three or more days, or part of the day, within a four week period without excuse . •Late arrivals and early releases that do not meet the criteria set by the district will count against the student attendance. [See policy FEA(LEGAL)] When my child is absent… •Send a signed doctor or handwritten note within 3 days of the student return to school. •5 or more absences due to personal illness will require a signed note from the physician. •Calls and emails will not excuse an absence; follow up with a Dr. or handwritten note. For detailed information please refer to pages 13-16 of the student handbook
