1 Welcome to Parent Information Night! Mrs. S. Fairley

2 First things first…. Thank You!!!

3 Starting off the Day Students may be dropped off at 7:00 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:35. If your child is going to eat breakfast at school, it is important that they arrive early.

4 Attendance Instruction takes place from 7:35 – 2:15. When your child is tardy or checked out, they are missing valuable instruction time. Monthly Attendance Goal – 97% To be counted present, your child must be at school 63% of the school day. (Students can’t be later than 9:00 a.m. or leave before 1:00 p.m.)

5 Communication Red folders come home EVERY night. Be sure to check every day for important notes or student reminders. Signed Papers- Sent home no later than Wednesday. Please look over the papers with your child. Sign and return the next day.

6 Helping with Homework Homework comes home every Monday and is due back on Friday. Homework should be able to be completed independently. The skills sent home will be review skills. Sign the fluency page every night.

7 Reading & Writing FLUENCY: First term goal is 80 words per minute. Vocabulary words: read and understand meaning. Spelling: Choose any activity to practice spelling.

8 Reading & Writing Grades Reading tests are usually given on Friday. Students must read and answer questions independently. Daily Grades (include spelling words) Assessments (include poem with questions) Sight Word Daily Grades Writing: Personal Narrative Daily Grade Writing: Original Fairy Tale Assessment grade

9 Math Information Fact fluency checks – 25 addition and subtraction facts in 3 minutes 1 st 9 weeks: Mental math, place value 2 nd 9 weeks: Money, 3 digit addition and subtraction 3 rd 9 weeks: Graphing, geometry, fractions 4 th 9 weeks: Time, measurement, multiplication

10 Grades Assessments 65% Daily Grades 35% Active Parent: On Active Parent, you are able to log in and view your child’s grades. If you need a form to sign up, let me know.

11 Snacks Please be sure to send a snack to school with your child everyday. We will have a short snack break in the afternoons. No candy or soft drinks! No sharing snacks.

12 Transportation Procedures If your child has a transportation change, they MUST have a note that morning. Pick Ups: There must be a sign in the window that includes your child’s first and last name and teacher’s name. We MUST load the children in the back seat. Car tag is also required. Cell phone use in the drop off/pick up line is strongly discouraged.

13 Questions and Concerns Please feel free to call, email, or text at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. I will try to respond as soon as I can. Conferences: Before calling the principal with questions and concerns, please contact the teacher and discuss the concerns. If you are still concerned, please feel free to call Mrs. Trimm.
