3 Great Expectations Canyon Pointe is a Great Expectations (GE) school.
GE is a professional development program that provides teachers with the skills needed to create harmony and excitement within the school atmosphere…elements that are basic for inspiring students to pursue academic excellence.

4 8 Expectations 1.We will value one another as unique and special individuals. 2.We will not laugh at or make fun of another person’s mistakes nor use sarcasm or put downs. 3.We will use good manners saying please, thank you and excuse me; and allow others to go first. 4.We will cheer each other to success. 5. We will help one another whenever possible. 6.We will recognize every effort and applaud it. 7.We will encourage each other to do our best. 8.We will practice virtuous living using the Life Principles.

5 Conduct in the Classroom
I will not use a conduct chart in the classroom. I will use Great Expectations to hold all students accountable. Consequences will be swift and directly relate to the misbehavior (missing centers, missing workstations, mark in red folder)

6 Lunch procedures *Please help your child memorize their ID number. *Ice cream is available to purchase everyday. You can put a limit on their account (Fridays only). *You can send in birthday treats and we will have them at the end of the day. *Please try to keep the visits to special occasions so students can eat with their peers.

7 Attend today… Achieve Tomorrow When my child is absent…
State law requires that a student in grades PK – 4th be subject to compulsory attendance rules. Which absences are excused? Medical absences Late arrivals with a Dr. note Weather conditions making travel dangerous (will be determined by the district) Extenuating circumstances approved by the Principal Religious holy days Court appearances * All absences require documentation in order to be excused. When my child is absent… Send a signed doctor or handwritten note within 3 days of the student return to school. 5 or more absences due to personal illness will require a signed note from the physician. Calls and s will not excuse an absence; follow up with a Dr. or handwritten note. Too many absences?… A student is in violation of the compulsory attendance law if: Is absent from school for three or more days, or part of the day, within a four week period without excuse . Late arrivals and early releases that do not meet the criteria set by the district will count against the student attendance. [See policy FEA(LEGAL)] For detailed information please refer to pages of the student handbook

8 Dismissal Procedures *If you change the way your child goes home, I must have a written note stating the change with the date(s) included. *If you need to pick your child up early, you must sign them out in the front office. *Please try not to make changes after 3pm.
