Kit You have already received a kit list from Blue Peris (extra copies are available tonight). Please do not buy anything expensive for the trip, as it is more than likely that clothing is going to get wet and/or dirty! Wheelie suitcases are useful. SLEEPING BAGS AND PILLOWS ARE REQUIRED.

Departure information - Saturday Arrive at school at 9am; Load suitcases and sleeping bags straight onto the coach; Parents to check in any medicines at desk; Wait in the Main Hall to be registered; 9:30am-10am departure; Approximately 12:30pm - Service Station stop for lunch (packed lunch or fast food); Arrive at Blue Peris at approximately 3:30pm.

Itinerary – Sunday and Monday 7am – Wake up; 8am – Breakfast and make lunch; 8:45am – Room inspection; 9:30am – First activity in groups; 12:30pm – Packed lunch; 1:30pm – Second activity in groups; 5:30pm – Dinner; 7pm – Evening activity; 9pm – Bedtime drinks and bed.

Returning home - Tuesday We will be departing at 12:30pm on Tuesday 26th June after our visit to the National Slate Museum (pupils will have had a packed lunch prior to departure); Our expected arrival time back at school is 6:00pm (traffic permitting); We will ‘tweet’ if we have a long delay.

Dormitories Pupils will be accommodated in dormitories of varying sizes; Sleep and tidiness are both very important!

Pocket money You will need money for lunch at the service station and for a snack/drink on the way home; A small amount of pocket money can be brought for tuck shop items; It may also be possible to buy souvenirs at the Slate Museum; Pupils need to take responsibility for any money/valuables brought on the trip – there is no facility for locking away possessions and neither the school or Blue Peris will be able to take responsibility for missing items.

Mobile phones Mobile phones are not necessary and we would encourage your child not to bring theirs; Phones will be handed in at bed time as sleep is very important; Phones will not be allowed at meal times; Phones will not be taken out on activities; Some dormitories do not have plug sockets; If necessary, phones will be confiscated by staff.

Travelling The pupils and staff will be travelling by coach to and from the centre; All pupils will be expected to wear a seat belt for the entire journey; Would parents please ensure that any child who suffers from travel sickness is adequately prepared; they should also sit towards the front of the coach; The bus company used abides by EU driving laws, requiring a 45 minute stop at the service station during each journey.

Making contact We will be ‘tweeting’ throughout our time away so make sure you are following: @GoldingtonAcad We will contact you if at all necessary; In an emergency, please contact the school who will be able to make contact with staff at Blue Peris or the trip mobile phone: - 07736 153231 Blue Peris’ number is: 01286 870 853; There is also a student payphone.

Medicines All medicines need to be clearly labelled with the dosage and the name of your child. Please ensure that you put your child’s medicine in a clear plastic container, e.g. Tupperware box, with their name clearly labelled on it. Hand in medicines on arrival, even if your child administers them themselves so that staff are aware of what they are taking and so that it can be monitored. These will be administered as and when necessary according to the medical form. Please contact Mrs Ross before the trip if you have any further concerns about any of the above. Paracetamol Pills for diarrhoea Insect bite and sting cream Adhesive plasters Antiseptic cream

Additional details Pupils are covered by Blue Peris and the school’s insurance policies; All adventurous activities are led by the centre’s own trained staff; For any other details about Blue Peris, please log on to the centre website at www.blueperis.co.uk

To Finish … Please ensure that any outstanding medical forms and payments are returned/made. Thank you!
