Presentation transcript:

Safety of Radioactive Waste Management in Uzbekistan Safety of radioactive waste management in Uzbekistan is based on established legal basis in the field of nuclear and radiation safety and number of relevant laws adopted. Generated radioactive waste on the territory of Uzbekistan and being transported within the country are subject the State (national) accounting. Currently there are sufficient national regulations to ensure protection of personnel, population and environment during the work with radioactive waste in force. Control and safety of the radioactive waste treatment are assigned to the three main departments of Uzbekistan governmental structure. Main part of released radioactive waste are transported and disposed in the Republican Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility (RRWDF). Many activities in the field of control of nuclear and radiation safety during the operation of a research reactor were performed within the framework of cooperation with the IAEA. The IAEA experts also provided all possible assistance to Uzbek specialists in the development and improvement of radioactive waste management rules and introduction of regulations to manage hazardous and radioactive waste. International Conference on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management  Vienna, November 21-25, 2016
