4 The Regulatory Body Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Government National Agency for Regulation of Radiological and Nuclear Activities Financing of the National Agency is carried out from the State Budget stipulated by separate article, and also from other sources as grants, the technical assistance, projects of the international cooperation, etc. Issues of all types of authorizations is free-of-charge

7 Notification - Authorization – Licensing - Inspections –The activities specified in Article 3 of the Law No. 111-XVI from 11.05.2006, should will be executed only at presence of the authorization, with obligatory performance of specific procedures for each kind of radiation or nuclear activity or ionizing radiations sources; –Procedure of the authorization is made by means of licensing or registration, in result of notification, depending on a category of radioactive sources, according to regulation documents of the International Atomic Energy Agency and National Agency; –The authorization by means of licensing, it is obligatory for anyone nuclear activities and activities with radioactive sources, specified in Article 3, concerning to categories I – III in base of NARNRA Conclusion; –The authorization by means of Registration, it is obligatory for anyone nuclear and radiological activity with IV and V categories of radioactive sources, and anyone generators of ionizing radiation;

10 Management System Information of the public about the radiation safety and security related aspects of regulated practices, intervention situations and the regulatory process concerning activity of National Agency on Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities is conducted by means officially press and a web- site http://www.mediu.gov.md/md/anranrhttp://www.mediu.gov.md/md/anranr The concrete procedures concerning Quality Management procedures for the regulatory activities of the NARNARA are not established yet.

11 Main plans: Development and strengthening of effective independence of NARNRA; Development of legal and normative base in radiological and nuclear activity field; Establish of the Educational Center on training of national experts in the field of radiation protection; Accreditation of training courses Centers; Establish of the QC/QA in radiological activities Establish of the Quality Management System in NARNRA; Strengthening of logistic capacity of NARNRA (the equipment, vehicles, office equipment, etc.); Development of national capabilities on operative reaction in case of radiological emergencies Main needs for the coming period 2009 - 11 Increase number of the Qualified Experts; Training of NARNAR staff in the field of evaluation and authorization of diagnostic radiology medicine and radio-therapeutical activity; Updating of the quantity of the dozimetric and office equipment; Development and introduction National Experts practices in the field of radiological safety

12 What, above all else, does NARNRA wish to achieve through RER-9096? Achievements of effective and qualitative regulation of radiological activity based on the national legislative requirements, standards, procedures and codes of good practice harmonised with international acts.
