2 Egypt General Description
Egypt is located in the far north-east of the continent of Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea from the north , South with the Sudan , west with Libya, north-east with Palestine and east of the Red Sea Most of the territory of Egypt in Africa, but part of its territory, namely Sinai , is located in Asia.

Population: 90 millions Official religion : Islam Official language: Arabic Climate: winter 20 ˚C / 10 ˚C - Summer 35 ˚C / 22 ˚C

4 Development stages of Regulatory Authority
Legal Framework 1982: Establishment of a competent regulatory body in Egypt (Nuclear Regulatory and Safety Committee) . 1991: Based on the Decree of the President No. 47 , the National Centre of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Control (NCNSRC) was established 2006: Presidential Decree no. 152 for control of NMs,& Executive Ministerial Decrees No.(419,420 and 421) for implementation procedure. 2007: Strategic Decision for the peaceful Nuclear Program 2010: By the Law No.7 / 2010, An independent “ Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA)” was established 2011: The executive rule was issued ( Oct ) by Prime minister 2012: Full independence of NRRA ( 5 March 2012).

5 ENRRA has all authorities required for the main regulatory and control functions of the nuclear and radiological activities in order to protect the man, property and environment from deleterious effects of ionizing radiation, as well as safeguards and security. It has also a major role in nuclear and radiation emergency.

6 Executive Regulations
Law no. 7 was issued in March 2010 The Executive Regulations of the law was issued in Oct by prime minister decree No. 1326/2011 The main content of the law : • 7 General statements (rules), 109 items • 7 Chapters Chapter I : General introduction Chapter II : Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority activities Chapter III : Licensing Standards , Licensee , License of Nuclear Installations , Mining and Installations ,Importing , exporting and Transport of Radioactive & nuclear materials. Chapter IV : Nuclear and Radiological Emergency , Chapter V : Nuclear Safeguard and Security Chapter VI : Civil Liability for Nuclear damage. Chapter VII : Penalties

7 The structure of the regulatory body is developed according to the activities, the main functions (Review and Assessment, Regulations, Licensing, Inspection and Enforcement) are carried out within each activity in appropriate units.
